I'm beyond frustrated here, is there any proper working El Capitan. DMG unlike the Catalina image I had downloaded which is different file directory structure. Upon further investigation, looks like the 3 different DMG images I downloaded have a. However, they do not boot on the macbook for some reason. I tried the image directly from Apple ( ) and also ISORiver. I researched and no way to update to latest firmware with out OS installed so then said to install with El Capitan first. I originally was able to create a bootable Catalina USB image, but turns out I could only reformat the SSD using APFS, however when I did that could not install Catalina as it said the Macbook does not have the latest firmware to install to that drive. The issue is, I do not have access to working Mac so I have to build images through Windows using TransMac ( ). My only option is an offline method such as a bootable USB drive. Long story short, the built-in OS recovery via internet does not work.
Her original hard drive died so I replaced it with a spare Samsung 830 SSD. I've literally spent over 14 hours this past month trying to fix a friends MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012).
